Welcome to FADS 2009!
Welcome to the homepage of the 2009 International Workshop on “Future Network Architectures and Development Strategies” (FADS). The workshop will be held in conjunction with BROADNETS 2009 in Madrid, Spain on September 14, 2009.
Next Generation Network/Internet (NGN/NGI) is an advanced, packet-based network that exploits multiple communication technologies to provide QoS-enabled, mobile, secured, and reliable multimedia services. The objective of NGN/NGI is to focus on users and those service-related functions that are independent of underlying transport-related technologies. Regarding NGN/NGI, more and more people have been shifting in thinking from “IPv6 is the NGN/NGI” to “clean state architecture”. Standards organizations tend to adopt the “patching” strategy, i.e. by adding enhancement over existing architecture. In academic circles, on the other hand, some people are exploring more radical architecture changes, spanning from simplified layered structure through layer-less one. The workshop “FADS” is the first international workshop to focus on architecture issues and development strategies and intended to provide a forum for researcher from academia, industry and government to exchange ideas and experiences and to discuss associated challenges in a more interactive way.
