  • The Third International Workshop on Signal Design and its Applications in Communications (IWSDA'07) will be held at the California Garden Hotel, Chengdu, China, from September 23-27, 2007. The workshop IWSDA was started in September 2001, and then held again in Yamaguchi, Japan, in October 2005. The aim of these workshops is to foster fruitful interactions among signal designers, coding theorists, cryptographic researchers and communications practitioners from all over the world.[Download CFP]

    Topics
Discrete signal design plays a very important role in widespread applications, such as spread spectrum, code division multiple access, channel estimations, synchronization, optimal detections, etc. The topics of this Workshop include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • New Concepts in Signal Design
  • Discrete Signal Designs and Characteristics
  • Theoretical Signal Bounds
  • Sequences and Error Control
  • Sequences and Cryptography
  • Signal design and Finite Fields/Rings
  • Randomness of Signals
  • Multi-dimensional Signal Design
  • Signal Acquisition and Tracking
  • Spread-Spectrum and CDMA Applications
  • Approximately Synchronous CDMA Systems
  • GPS and Other Positioning Signals
  • Signals for UWB/OFDMA /Powerline Systems
  • Signals for Multiple-terminal/Radar Systems
  • Channel Estimation, Detection & Synchronization
  • DSP/FPGA/ASIC Implementation Issues

  • Important Deadlines
  • Manuscript submission: June 15, 2007
  • Acceptance notification: July 15, 2007
  • Camera-ready submission: August 10, 2007

    Paper Submission
Papers presenting new results in the above areas are hereby solicited. Only electronic submissions via above websites in PDF or PS formats are accepted. Each submission must be at most 5 pages in length and conform to the double-column IEEE conference proceedings format.
Authors may submit their manuscript in one of two formats: Adobe Postscript (.ps) or Adobe Portable Document Format (.pdf), preferred PDF format. The submitted paper must not exceed 5 pages (in double column format) according to the style files which can be downloaded below,
    Example manuscript (PDF)
LaTeX style (STY) & Example (TEX) compressed in one RAR
MS Word style/example manuscript file (DOC)

    Conference Proceedings
It is planned that the conference proceedings of IWSDA'07 be published in English by IEEE Press (in both printing and CDROM forms), and be indexed by Engineering Index (Ei). Selected full papers will also be published in a special issue of the IEICE Transactions on Fundamentals.

    About Chengdu:
Chengdu, a city with longstanding history and civilization, is the capital of Sichuan Province. The province is the home of giant pandas and is well known for its historical and natural attractions. It has four places on the World Cultural and Natural Heritage: Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, Huang Long Valley, Mount Emeishan and ancient Dujiang Yan irrigation systems. Chengdu is also well known for its spicy Cuisine. October is in the middle of autumn in Chengdu with average temperatures ranging from 20ˇăC (night) to 25ˇăC (day). There are direct flights to Chengdu from Hong Kong, Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Seoul, Singapore, Bangkok, Beijing, Shanghai and other major cities.
