Fan Pingzhi (FIEE, SMIEEE) received his MSc degree and PhD degree from the Southwest Jiaotong University ( China ) and Hull University (U.K.) in 1987 and 1994 respectively. From 1994 to 1997, he worked for Leeds University (UK) as research fellow. He also worked as visiting professor for Leeds University (UK, 1997-), Mikkeli Polytechnic (Finland, 1996), Georgia State University (USA, 2001), FernUniversity (Germany, 2002), National Chonbuk University (Korea, 2003) and Tsukuba University (Japan, 2005).
He is currently a professor and director of the institute of mobile communications, Southwest Jiaotong University, China. He was a recipient of the UK ORS Award (1992), and the National Science Foundation of China for Outstanding Young Scientist (1998).
