内容提要Outline of the Talk:

Sequences with Low Correlations for Constrained Spectrum

Frequency hopping and direct spreading sequences having low correlation properties have contributed to growth and development of new generation communication access technologies. All these traditional methods assume the availability of contiguous band of spectrum. The spectrum in practice is a rear commodity, and the applications must invent novel technologies to reuse spectrum efficiently. New paradigms such as Cognitive Radio and Cognitive radar have the capability to sense the Radio Frequency environment and efficiently uses the spectrum by cooperative mechanisms. In this talk, we will go through limits on correlation parameters and their influence on sensing and subsequent detection in spectrum constrained environments. I will also talk about new directions in sequences with correlations


报告人简介(Short Biography of the Speaker):

Dr Udaya Parampalli (http://people.eng.unimelb.edu.au/udaya/)

He is an Associate Professor and Reader in the Department of Computing and Information Systems, the University of Melbourne. He obtained his Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology (I.I.T), Kanpur, in 1993. From 1992 to July 1996, he worked in industry as a Member Research Staff at Central Research Laboratory, Bharat Electronics, Bangalore. From 1997 to 2000, he was an ARC research associate at the Department of Mathematics, RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. In the second half of 2008, he was a Visiting Professor in Department of Computer Science at University of Calgary, Canada.

Udaya is a Senior Member of IEEE. He has served as program committee member in various conferences and workshops in the area of sequences, Cryptography and Security. He is the general chair of SETA 2014, a premier international conference on Sequences and Their Applications.

Udayas research interests are in the area of cryptography and sequences over finite fields and rings for communications and information security.
