内容提要(Outline of the Talk):

An overview of the research activities of the Electronics Lab. will be presented, in anticipation to find common areas of research interests. A set of analog circuit testing methods will be discussed (the supply current testing method, the application of Wavelets and other techniques). Furthermore, the knowledge of the performance of the silicon substrate, on which the integrated circuit is built, can be of great help to estimate the overall performance of a mixed analog-digital integrated circuit. So, a novel methodology for substrate modelling will be briefly presented and its advantages will be discussed. A modular digital test scenario and the use of embedded toggle generators to control the switching activity during test of digital 2D-SoCs and 3D-SICs, will be presented, as proposed in a project in cooperation with IMEC, Belgium. In the area of data encoding for energy-efficiency, an adaptive word reordering method for low-power inter-chip communication will be described. The topic of inductive contactless interfaces in 3D chips will be briefly commented. Finally, in the area of Design Automation and Modelling, a 3D design flow as well as an advanced and versatile thermal simulator for integrated systems, will be briefly discussed.


报告人简介(Short Biography of the Speaker):

Prof. Alkiviadis (Alkis) A. Hatzopoulos (Chatzopoulos)was born in Thessaloniki, Greece (1958).

He received his Degree in Physics (with honours), his Master Degree in Electronics and his Ph.D. Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1980, 1983 and 1989, respectively. He was granted scholarship from the Greek State Scholarship Foundation (IKY) during all four years of studies in the Physics Department (1976-1980) and for his PhD research in Greece (three years). He has been with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki since 1981, were now he is a full Professor. Since 2002 he has been elected as the Director of the Electronics Laboratory of the ECE Dept. He was also being elected as Associate Teaching Personnel of the Hellenic Open University, Department of Informatics, for twelve years (2004-2017).

His research interests include modelling, design and testing of integrated circuits and systems (analog, mixed-signal, high-frequency), three dimensional Integrated Circuits (3D ICs), electronic communication circuits, thin-film transistors, instrumentation electronics, Bioelectronics systems. He is actively involved in educational and research projects, and he is the author or co-author of more than 150 scientific papers in international journals and conference proceedings and three book chapters in international textbooks. He has been also granted a European and American patent. He has been cooperating for many years with the IMEC Microelectronics Research Institute in Leuven, Belgium, on micro- and nano-electronic integrated circuits and systems (design, testing and fault diagnosis). The IMEC Institute is a pioneer in nano-electronics research with a wide range of applications. There is also a collaboration with the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL) in the area of high frequency integrated circuits (RF).

He has acted as reviewer in various International Scientific Journals and International conferences and he has been involved in the organizing committee or organized various special sessions and national/international conferences. He has been involved in the organisation or served as session Chairman in many International IEEE conferences. Prof. Hatzopoulos has been the official representative of Greece, invited by the Italian Institute of International Commerce (Istituto nazionale per il Commercio Estero), in the International ROMA Electronics Forum 20-22 October 2008 in Rome, where he presented the current status and future development of Microelectronics in Greece. He has been a Member (2010-2018) of the Belgian Research Foundation Committee (FWO Expert panel WT7) for National (Flanders) Grants and Project evaluations.

He has given a large number of lectures on his research topics in various Universities, like the University of Texas at Dallas - USA, the New York University at Abu Dhabi -United Arab Emirates, Drexel University at Philadelphia - USA, the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) in Irbid - Jordan, University of Toulouse - France, Polytechnic University of Warsaw in Poland, Łódź University of Technology in Poland, University of Grenoble - France, Technical University of Sofia -Bulgaria, Technical University of Cluj-Napoca - Romania, University of Las Palmas De Gran Canarias - Spain, the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven - Belgium, the University of Balearic Islands - Spain, Universita Degli Studi di Pavia - Italy, Universita Degli Studi di Napoli Federico II - Italy, Technical University of Dresden - Germany.

He has been a visiting Professor at Michigan State University, MI, USA, (Feb. - July 1995), a visiting Professor at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium (Feb. - July 2004), and a visiting Professor at University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) (Jan. - July 2016). He is a Senior Member of IEEE and since 2010 he has been elected as the IEEE Greece CASS-SSCS joint Chapter Chair.
