The Software Engineering Research Group (SERG) was established in 2002 and carries out the researches in software engineering theory, method and technique. The main focuses are new software technologies, approaches, and application development based on component, intelligence, internet and Web, and big data techniques. There are 3 full professors, 11 associate professors and lecturers, and about 150 postgraduate students working in SERG. In recent 5 years, the group members have led or undertaken more than 20 projects, incl. subproject of The Rail Transit National Laboratory, subproject of National High-Tech Project of China (863-Project), key projects of China Railway Ministry, projects of Sichuan Province, and enterprise-funded projects. The amount of project funds is more than one million RMB. The SERG teachers and postgraduate students have already published about 120 papers and 4 books and textbooks. The SERG actively conducts academic cooperation with IEE / IEEE Fellow, experts and scholars from USA, Europe and other countries. The SERG members act as the chairman of the international conference organization committees, as the conference program committee members and the reviewers for international and domestic academic journals. Several professors in SERG act as the committee of the Software Engineering Teaching instruction commission of the Ministry of Education, the candidate leader of science and technology in Sichuan Province, and so on. In addition, the professors in SERG have given PhD/postgraduate student courses in full English and bilingually. SERG teachers have undertaken a lot of teaching tasks for the Software Engineering Department and the whole school, incl. the basic professional courses, professional courses, experiments, and internship programs. They have led and taken part in the reform projects of teaching methodology recently and won 2nd and 3rd rewards of teaching achievement from the university.
