内容提要(Outline of the Talk :

Airborne radio access networks (A-RANs) is a particularly promising technology due to its ability to offer fast, cost-efficient, and on-demand enhancement of the existing telecommunication infrastructure. This talk will focus on the main challenges of ARANs, i.e., the energy sustainability of the aerial platforms (APs) and the establishment of reliable links with the ground nodes. To this direction, a novel approach will be presented, which is based on mixed free-space optical (FSO)/radio frequency (RF) relaying protocol and simultaneous lightwave information and power transfer (SLIPT). Moreover, the max-min fairness problem will be discussed, which regulates the trade-off between the energy and information transfer to the AP and allocates the available resources to multiple end users. Finally, some preliminary simulation results will be provided, while some future research directions will also be discussed.

Dr. Panagiotis D. Diamantoulakis was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1989. He received the Diploma Degree (5 years) and his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 2012 and 2017, respectively. His current research interests include resource allocation in wireless communications, optimization theory and applications, game theory, non-orthogonal multiple access, wireless power transfer, and machine learning for smart grids. He is co-author of a chapter titled “Trade-offs in Wireless Powered Communications”, in the book Wireless Power Transfer Algorithms, Technologies and Applications in Ad Hoc Communication Networks, Springer, 2017. He was Member of the International Advisory Committee in the International Conference on Big Data and Data Analytics (ICBDDA-17). He was an exemplary reviewer in IEEE Communication Letters for 2014 and IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications 2017 (top 3\% of reviewers). He also serves as Guest Editor of Applied Sciences for the Special Issue “Optical Wireless Communications” and for Physical Communication of Elsevier for the Special Issue on Emerging Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) Techniques for 5G and Beyond (Submission due Jan 1, 2019). He serves as Editor in the IEEE Wireless Communications Letters and in the Journal of Communications and Information Network (published by China InfoCom Media Group).
